The River Underground
March 4, 2019
In 2011, I wrote a song called The River Underground. Something compelled me to write these strange lyrics about a “living land.”

I never really knew what the song was about or why I gave it that title. All I knew was that it was important somehow.
None of it made any sense until 2017, when I found myself attending community events at this amazing property in the Sierra foothills and the owner told me a “river flows underground” beneath the property, partly accounting for its otherworldly energies.
I remembered the song and wondered if there was some connection. Later that day, I experienced a number of sacred events, many of which were forecast precisely in the lyrics I had written years before.
Some high strangeness indeed.
For the last five months, I’ve been living on the property that sits atop the river underground. I’ve been getting charged up each day by this high desert, subterranean vortex. I bet you could tell if you ran into me in town...
“Wow, Jacob, have you been dwelling in a geodesic dome atop a hidden holy river, tucked away from the miseries of the world?”
The answer is yes, yes I have. I’ve had an entire three-story dome all to myself for five months. It’s been epic! I honored the land as best I could. I enjoyed hosting my incredible partner in this space.
I’m headed elsewhere now, which of course makes me sad. But the signs are telling me it is time to go. Excited for the next residents, several of whom are people I know and love.
Magic is very real, my friends.
